Modesto-Based Hi-Tec assists The Salvation Army in Sending Kids to Camp

by Dyana Panales, Hi-Tec PR Manager

Modesto, CA (July 14, 2010) – In the spirit of community and a passion for the outdoors, Modesto’s own Hi-Tec Sports plans to support The Salvation Army in sending local kids to camp. Project Camp Redwood Glen sends hundreds of children each summer, to enjoy fresh air, exercise and the beautiful outdoors. Hi-Tec has pledged to donate footwear for the children attending camp from the Stanislaus County area. By having appropriate footwear for camp, these children will surely enjoy their camp experience and thrive from their outdoor adventure. Nearly 50 kids from the Stanislaus County area will be toured through the Hi-Tec facility and receive their gift of shoes, tomorrow, Thursday, July 15, 2010.

“We are delighted to partner with Hi-Tec Sports in outfitting some very deserving youth with quality shoes before they depart for camp,” said Major Kelly Pontsler, Golden State Divisional General Secretary for The Salvation Army. “For some children, this will be their first time attending an outdoor summer camp. Having good footwear for both hiking and playing is essential for making this summer camp experience a memorable one.”

About Salvation ArmyThe Salvation Army in Stanislaus County has been serving the San Joaquin Valley for several decades, offering practical support, spiritual comfort and a critical safety net to people in need. The Army has multiple facilities throughout Modesto, Turlock and Newman providing a myriad of services, including youth programs, homeless shelters and transitional living facilities, and nutritional and housing support for seniors. In addition, the Army also provides disaster relief services. For more information on Salvation Army activities in Central California, visit online at: www.tsagoldenstate.org/

About Camp Redwood Glen

For over sixty years, tens of thousands of children have been given the opportunity to come to Redwood Glen. The Redwood Glen summer camp program provides a safe environment where individuals can learn about God and His creation, develop healthy relationships, gain new skills and have fun. This is accomplished through biblically based programs, quality staff, and diverse activities. Stanislaus County children will attend “Community Service Camp,” which is a 6-day, 5-night camp, typically scheduled Thursday through Tuesday. These camps give children from age 7 to 16 the opportunity to hike, swim, do arts and crafts, explore the creek, roast a marshmallow and so much more.
